The only way people will be able to find each other on
the net is to remember their real names and use a query
facility like User Friendly Names, and distinguished
names are suitable for carrying people's real
identifying information.

One of these looks a whole lot like an interface that has been around several
hundred years and *has* scaled globally. The other is just getting started, and
is already chopped liver (and I've got a good address, I feel sorry for those
poor AOL bastards).
Continue overloading the DNS, and you will eventually end up with something akin
to X.500 in function and scope. Only after much time pain and suffering
however.
