Shoot! I've just implemented FB_HTMLENT ! (quick, wasn't it?) Okay, be it CHARREF (or isn't there a good short abbreviation for that?). Let me check to make sure....wait, 

HTML Char Ref;  &#1234
XML  Char Ref;  &#xabcd

(just checked http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/charset.html).
