libxml-perl?

the CPAN version of Ken MacLeod's XML::Parser::PerlSAX seems to be failing
tests in a way that appears (to me) to be related to "use bytes;"

t/stream.....FAILED test 11.

putting a "use bytes;" at the top of the test file seems to cure it.   Has
anybody else had this problem?
