I don't know. The main advantage of not passing the SV* is that this
doesn't leave any gnawing doubts if you still have to worry about
calling mg_get() or not. :)
I noticed that many functions need to call strlen() on the char*
argument, which seems wasteful since we already know the length
in the SV. But I know that it doesn't really matter.
