I fixed the problem described below by setting the variable
DROPPRIVS=yes
in /etc/procmailrc.

I have a problem with mailbox permissions using procmail 3.10 from my
sendmail.cf file. Any mailbox other than /usr/spool/mail/$USER is created
owned by root. I am running procmail on a DEC Alpha with OSF 1 v3.2 with
C2 security turned on. C2 may be the problem - if so I need a workaround.
The info below gives more of an idea of how things are setup.
# ls -l /usr/spool/mail/trainerm*
-rw------- 1 trainerm users 468 Oct 16 11:38 trainerm
-rw------- 1 root mail 472 Oct 16 11:38 trainerm.edi
# uname -a
OSF1 hostname V3.2 148 alpha
# cat /etc/procmailrc
PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin
MAILDIR=/var/spool/mail
LOGFILE=/var/log/procmail
VERBOSE=on
:0: # catch all EDI mail
* ^Subject:.#EDI#
/usr/spool/mail/${USER}.edi

Mlocal, P=/usr/local/bin/procmail, F=lsDFMfSn, S=10, R=20/40,
A=procmail -a $h -d $u
# ls -l /etc/procmailrc /usr/local/bin/procmail

Thanks
