Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions on invoking procmail
from a .forward file; sometimes an interesting issue, apparently.
In my case, the solution was to change the .forward line to:
"|/usr/local/bin/procmail -f- #jimo"
Instead of the "|IFS=' '&&exec ..." shown in the man page notes.
For good measure, I hard-coded my home directory in my .procmailrc
file, not counting on $HOME being set, but I'm not sure that's necessary.
In light of the exchange between David and Dalman, I suspect my
local sendmail isn't allowed to "exec" for security reasons, but
happily, procmail is on the approved list, and I'm on to filtering...
