I am afraid to dig through the procmail/lockfile source too much. Is
there a way that you can extract procmail's treatment of file locking in
a few short functions from the procmail source? This would be a great
thing to include for authors of MUA (or people that are hacking the hell
out of broken old MUA's that completely mess up file locking) and it
would be nice to standardize this sort of treatment. Since it seems
that procmail does the best job on this, I was wondering if anyone had
put any energy into isolating the locking code so that it could just be
plugged into things with minimal effort.
