More on linux (kernal 2.0 and redhat 3.03) and procmail (local mailer). As
I had said before, When using the MAILDIR command in a rc file, the
directory would not change.
I noticed something interesting. I have a recipe for dup checking. the
file is called .msgid.cache (I know verry original).
However, when I do a ls -a, I see the file as .msgid.cache?
It seems that there is a '?' appended afterwords.
Are you composing your .procmailrc from DOS, or using an editor that
uses CRLF (instead of just LF) as the line terminator? If you type:
ls -a | cat -evt | grep cache
does it show:
.msgid.cache^M$
(The '-e' puts the '$' at the end of the line, showing trailing whitespace,
while the '-vt' flags turn control characters (including tab) into ^@
format (i.e., a carat followed the the control letter).)
If so, then that's your problem. Remove all the CR's from the file, and
get a better editor.
