Something odd...

1996-09-02 00:43:09
I use procmail 3.11pre4 on an RS6000 580 running AIX 3.2.5 and IDA
sendmail.

On thursday I enabled procmail once again, with a minimal .procmailrc
file, only three recipies, to filter out a few mailing lists.
The first few lines of the
PATH=$HOME/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/ucb:/bin:/usr/local/bin:.
SHELL=/bin/sh
MAILDIR=$HOME/Mail
# MAILDIR=/nts/sttsrm/Mail/
# MAILDIR=/export/support/sttsrm/Mail/
# DEFAULT=$MAILDIR/other.inbox
LOCKFILE=$HOME/.lockmail
VERBOSE=on

#
# Turn on logging, one logfile per hour
#
LOGDATE=`date +%y-%U.%a.%H`
LOGFILE=$MAILDIR/logfiles/log.${LOGDATE}

#
# All ssl-talk info into it's own folder

ssl-talk

#
# sun-managers mailing list into it's own folder

I'm still believing that I may loose some e-mails. I'm pretty sure that
some of them just 'vanish', I can not see anything in any of the logs,
neither procmail or syslog. There are some e-mails that I get regularly,
but can not find anywhere after enabling procmail.

My .forward looks like:
/homes/stts/sttsrm/Mail/backup.mail
"|IFS=' ' && p=/usr/local/bin/procmail && test -f $p && exec $p -Yf- ||
exit 75 #sttsrm"

The last one is really one line.

There is two things I noticed this morning.

1) I found one e-mail with a pretty odd content.....I use PINE 3.95, and
when using 'h' to view all headers, I see:

procmail: Executing "sc"
 Subject: comments2 submission
  Folder: sc
1606
procmail: Notified comsat: "pankaj@:sc"
/bin/sh: sc:  not found

Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Without the 'h'eader mode, all I see is the 'Could someone....' line. I do
not know what this mean.

2) I noticed two e-mails returned by mailer-daemon saying:

   ----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 xfAA46421: line 6: /homes/stts/sttsrm/Mail/backup.mail... Can't create
output

The backup.mail folder had hundreds of e-mails both before and after this
one...How come?
