Will this work ?

1997-01-09 11:20:01
Looks like 99% of commercial junkmail arriving to my INBOX does not
have the "To: " -line. $pammers seem to use use .forwards or
        mailinglist-like software to do their fsck'ing bulk-emails.

So, quite remarkable portion of spam could be ditched simply by
detecting
if the arriving mail does not have "To: $MYADDR" -line.
Well, at least it *looks like it* to me. Please correct me if I am
wrong.

Lets put this thing at the bottom of basic filtering .rc, *after* your
        mailinglist-filters and similars.
(procmail-list does not send the "To:" -line either)(but you *know* the
        lists you're on, dont U?)

Frankly, I cannot recall "how-to-check-if-this-does-not-exist" in
a recipe but this must be left-handed to many readers of this list.
(Consuming brandy and reading 200+ email messages at the moment, so pse
        forgive me %-)

...abovementioned was the so called "idea" of this posting.

Gentlemen, please do present us your kind suggestions to act as this
recipe.
Working recipe of this kind would be a *BIG* help to a bunch of
beginners!

Disclaimer: This simple solution-model just popped to my mind.
I am definitely not trying to patent this :)

BTW: "X-No-Archive = yes" added to the headers of this list could
be a Good Thing. Just FYI. At least if the list would leave mailed-in
"X-No-Archive" -lines untouched it would be a wellcomed modification.
When I did my 1st search on AltaVista with my personal name I saw
*lots*
of links to procmail-list archives. Not a good thing...spamwise.
        And counter-spamwise too.

The most clueful spammers do read this list. If they do not, I'll eat
        my socks :)
The countermeasures are discussed here...so they are here, learning.
