mh-6.8.4 patch for linux now available

1997-01-30 01:20:07
Even though this is not directly related to procmail, I am posting
this to the procmail mailing list as I am aware that this may be of
some interest to many people here.

In response to several requests and an obvious need for this, I have
produced a diff file to patch the standard mh-6.8.3 sources up to
6.8.4 to compile and run under linux.

I have uploaded the patch to the linux archives on sunsite.unc.edu and
tsx-11.mit.edu. It will initially be found at sunsite.unc.edu in the
/pub/Linux/Incoming/ directory, and later at tsx-11.mit.edu and
ftp.gw.com.

The patch worked perfectly for me applied to a clean mh-6.8.3 source
tree to produce a trouble-free compile and good working binaries, and
it should work on most contemporary linux systems. I have a linux
system with the following installed: linux kernel 2.0.28, gcc-2.7.2.1,
libc-5.4.17 and binutils-2.7.0.3 - that is, the current standard
production kernel and development tools.

I may produce a full source mh-6.8.4-linux.tar.gz archive to replace
the old mh-6.8.3.tar.gz and mh-6.8.3-diff.tgz files currently in the
linux archives (once I have the "green light" from the current mh
maintainers).

This is the mh-6.8.4-linux-patch.lsm

Title: mh-6.8.4-linux-patch.gz
Version: 0.1
Entered-date: January 30th 1997
Description: See the file `mh-6.8.4-linux-patch.README' that can be found
at the top of the diff file.
This is a patch to bring the official mh-6.8.3 sources up to
version 6.8.4 for linux. It is based on the patches
distributed in the RedHat mh-6.8.3-13.rpm and the MH.6.8.4.Z
                upgrade patch.
MH is a very powerful and highly flexible MIME-capable mail
management system which uses individual shell-level commands
to manage various aspects of mail maintenance. These commands
can be used as is, or combined via shell scripts to allow
arbitrary mail manipulation. User interfaces such as xmh,
exmh and mh-e can easily be implemented on top of its commands.
The original mh-6.8.3 sources can be found at:
                ftp://ftp.ics.uci.edu/pub/mh/tar/mh-6.8.3.tar.Z

ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/Mail/readers/mh-6.8.3-src.tar.gz
It makes obselete and replaces the file:
