Hi Pam. There are probably a lot of ways of doing it. The way I do it
is to have an archive list, (just like a "normal" smartlist, but with
no distribution list,) running on another machine. Anytime someone
mails to the regular list, it ASAP sends a copy of the message to the
archive machine. That way, if something happens to the regular
machine, (like the building burning down with my backups,) I have a
copy, ready to go, at a geographically disperse location, which can be
reinstalled via ftp, etc., (or brought "alive" by stuffing a
distribution list into it.)
For project management email full text databases, I run one in Europe,
one in Asia, and one in the US. They all have the same spooled mail,
but each handles its own geographic distribution locale via locale
specific distribution lists.
