NOTE: I just joined the list, and it seems I missed something about just
his problem... Was a conclusion reached?
I am having a problem with Procmail and lockfiles. I am hoping someone
here has had a similar problem who can tell me how to fix it:
The system is linux (2.0.25) running sendmail (BSD 8.8.0) and procmail
(3.10) Running offline (using fetchamil 2.1 pl 0) meaning I have to run
sendmail manually to process mail (with 'sendmail -q') I've done this as
both my account (jahrens) and root with the same results.
When procmail processes mail that should end up in the system mail box
there is a very long pause (once for each message, can sometimes take a
long time)
When running procmail with a logfile and verbose on I got this:
procmail: [6130] Fri Apr 18 18:52:32 1997
<list of 'no match' removed>
procmail: Locking "/var/spool/mail/jahrens.lock"
procmail: Error while writing to "/var/spool/mail/_nV1GSuperCoug"
procmail: [6130] Fri Apr 18 18:52:40 1997
<6 attempts to lock snipped, identical save a several seconds on time>
procmail: Locking "/var/spool/mail/jahrens.lock"
procmail: Error while writing to "/var/spool/mail/_nV1GSuperCoug"
procmail: Lock failure on "/var/spool/mail/jahrens.lock"
procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=/var/spool/mail/jahrens"
procmail: Opening "/var/spool/mail/jahrens"
procmail: Acquiring kernel-lock
From root Fri Apr 18 18:52:32 1997
Subject: Test
Folder: /var/spool/mail/jahrens 342
procmail: [6130] Fri Apr 18 18:53:29 1997
procmail: Notified comsat: "jahrens(_at_)562341:/var/spool/mail/jahrens"
procmail: Unlocking "/home/jahrens/.lockmail"
It seems that for some reason procmail is unable to create the lock file,
and I do not know why.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
