I want my normal mail to go into the system inbox, but I want
mailing lists to be sorted into the directory:
$HOME/mail/incoming/

MAILDIR=$HOME/mail/incoming

If you don't have the manual pages installed, you can find them at
numerous places on the web. Note that there are several manual pages
-- procmailrc explains MAILDIR and other pertinent variables. The
example .rc file which comes with the distribution also contains a
preamble section with usually good defaults for many of the important
variables.
  <http://www.iki.fi/~era/procmail/links.html> has a link to on-line
copies of the manuals (actually, a canned Alta Vista search) you can
use.

Hope this helps,
