Procmail with PP

1997-08-06 12:34:00
Hello,

I'm new to this list, so I'm sorry if this topic has perhaps been done to
death before, however I couldn't find anything relevant in the archives,
so here goes:

I apparently need to use a .mailfilter file instead of a .forward file as
the mailer I use, PP, does not recognise .forward files. This does,
however lead me to a problem when I try to use my .mailfilter file to
pipe the incoming mail into procmail. The format I use for my .mailfilter is

pipe "my .forward stuff";

Unfortunately the .forward I believe is supposed to contain double quotes,
which I can't place in my .mailfilter file as it gives

pipe ""my .forward stuff""

like so. My mail doesn't seem to be getting passed to procmail as the
logfile is never written to. My mail just sits in limbo until I delete
my .mailfilter file. I have checked the syntax of my .mailfilter, it's
okay, I think it's maybe my .forward segment. Could not having the double
quotes (which themselves would cause a syntax error with PP) be the
problem? Is anyone else out there using PP, or indeed do they know of
anyone who is or of any web sites where I may be able to get some useful
info? I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I'm using Pine to read
my mail at present.

Thanks,

Graeme.
