I'm guessing it is some sort of POSIX thing (NeXTStep has never liked
POSIX). I could not figure out what was causing the problem, whether it
was procmail itself or appnmail (a NeXTStep program).
Just to narrow it down: feeding that message directly to either
appnmail or procmail just works. When I fed it through
formail -s -e /path/to/procmail
similar symptoms occurred (and the messages was not delivered).
Here's an excerpt of my test session:
