Actually, it has extracted the From_ line, which shows what your site be-
lieves to be the address of the envelope sender, who should (but might not)
be the party who directed it to you and may or may not be the writer of the
text.

You can't easily get it from the logabstract, but in procmail versions (since
approximately 3.06) that support extraction, you can take it from the From_
line yourself without calling formail; the brackets enclose caret, space, tab:

  :0
  * ^^From *\/[^        ]+
  { ENVELOPE_SENDER=$MATCH }
