Not exactly: the LOCKTIMEOUT variable is used by procmail, so if Timothy
were calling compactmail inside a procmail rcfile, that would be the way to
go.

Since Timothy would be using the lockfile utility in a shell script, the lock
timeout is specified by lockfile's -l option, not by an environmental variable.
