msgid.cache/formail problems

1998-01-04 08:21:28
Hello,

I seem to be having problems with the either the new procmail or our
SunOS 4.1.3 machine/NFS. The first problem deals with the msgid.cache.
No matter what I do, I can't get formail (ok then, formail problem)
to use a a msgid.cache in my ~/Mail directory. I have tried using
the full pathname and that didn't work either. Here is the relevant part
of my .procmailrc:

LOGFILE=/home/bynum/Mail/from
VERBOSE=yes
LOGABSTRACT=all
PATH=$HOME/bin/SUNOS4:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:.
MAILDIR=/home/bynum/Mail
DEFAULT=/mail/everest.ast.lmco.com/bynum
ORGMAIL=$MAILDIR/EMERGENCY.MBOX
LOCKFILE=$HOME/.lockmail
SHELL=/bin/sh
ARGUMENT=$1

:0 Wh: msgid.lock
| formail -D 8192 msgid.cache

I have tried ~/Mail/msgid.cache and even /home/bynum/Mail/msgid.cache. It
still only wants to look in my home directory for the msgid.cache. I know
this because when I created one in my home directory formail used it.
Here is the log output:

procmail: [2926] Sun Jan  4 07:35:22 1998
procmail: Assigning "LOGABSTRACT=all"
procmail: Assigning "PATH=/home/bynum/bin/SUNOS4:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:."
procmail: Assigning "MAILDIR=/home/bynum/Mail"
procmail: Assigning "DEFAULT=/mail/everest.ast.lmco.com/bynum"
procmail: Assigning "ORGMAIL=/home/bynum/Mail/EMERGENCY.MBOX"
procmail: Assigning "LOCKFILE=/home/bynum/.lockmail"
procmail: Locking "/home/bynum/.lockmail"
procmail: Assigning "SHELL=/bin/sh"
procmail: Assigning "ARGUMENT="
procmail: Locking "msgid.lock"
procmail: Executing "formail,-D,8192,msgid.cache"
formail: formail: No such file or directory
procmail: Program failure (1) of "formail"
procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=formail -D 8192 msgid.cache"
procmail: Unlocking "msgid.lock"
procmail: Assigning "MAILDIR=/home/bynum/Mail/incoming"

Yes, there is a msgid.cache in ~/Mail that is writable by me. It seems that
procmail will use the ~/Mail (and lower) directories while formail does not.

Any help is greately appreciated.
