Can procmail send something to the console?

1998-01-27 03:29:56
I would like to be able to do the following:

* When procmail gets new mail, I would like to get it to send
a message to my console (if there is one open) saying sometihng
like "new mail here". That way I can know that I need to check
my mail.

I have tried to do this and have not had any luck (using shell commands like
echo to /dev/console)

I am running Procmail 3.7 on a Sun Sparcstation with Spambouncer

If you have any ideas how to do this, please drop me a note either privately
or to the list

Thanks very much in advance! :-)

Slainte!
