There is always the posibility that your procmail was not invoked to
handle the email. This can happen because an unusual MTA handled the
email (Ask you Systen Admin), or your .forward file is on an NFS
partition that was temporarly unavailable and the MTA's default
action is to deliver to the local mail box when this occurs.

Very close examination of this message revealed only that it matched the
criterion for putting it in a certain folder. Looked just like all other
messages from that mailing list. The header line which was checked is
identical in all the messages. Also, I looked in the 'log', and this
message was not logged. So - it is curious.
