remote finger ?

1998-04-09 21:41:18
It used to be that you could telnet to rs.internic.net and issue a finger
command. I haven't tried it recently, so I don't know if it still works.
I found it very useful, as I could see what external users could see of the
output of the finger command. My ISP deletes info that appears to internal
users of finger.

BTW: If you have a .plan file in your $HOME directory, you can use a
variant of the Unix ls command to find when your account was last accessed:

ls -alu .plan

This will tell you when your account was last fingered. But it won't tell
you WHO fingered you.

Subject: remote finger ?

Hi,

I've been playing most of the day with trying to make it where
you can mail an account and put "finger user(_at_)host" on the subject line and
it will return the output back in an email... no luck yet.. anyone good
at making one of these? none of mine work.. maybe someone else can help
me out..

                        Jeremy
