Filtering domains - Procmail recipie

1998-06-11 08:37:42
I need some help here. I am wading throughout the wonderful world of REG
exp's and I am quickly getting lost. Basically I know what I want to do and
what needs to be done but not HOW to do it.

I am running a majordomo listserver. Right now... all subscriptions
requests go to the mailing list owner for approval. What I wanted to do is
do a search on the domain name of the sender, and allow people with a .mil
or .dod domain to be automatically routed to the approve script of
majordomo.

Really, I think there are just two rules involved, one that would match .mil
or .dod and another to match the command "subscribe" or "unsubscribe" in the
message body (this would be needed so that all the mail sent to the owner
wouldn't be piped to the approve script). Once these rules are matched...
then you just pipe the message to the approve script.

I just wish I could find an FAQ that would start from the ground up,
explaining regular expressions. It seems like everything I read is just
assuming that you know how they work.

Thanks in advance,
