the present recipe is simple, but serves my purpose,
how would I modify it to work with the above scenario.

  You would need to clone a second instance of the
message.  That is what the "c" flag is for.

  I put in the "b" on the last recipe because you
specifically stated you want "the body of that
message" passed to xmessage; and presumably no
headers.
