After seeing your recipes, I think it's pretty clear what the problem
is. If you type news(_at_)site into the To: field in various Microsoft
programs, they will helpfully change it into something like

    To: "'news(_at_)site'" <news(_at_)site>

I'm not sure I have caught all the masterful nuances of the quoting;
this is from memory.

For kicks, you could complain about this to Microsoft (and laugh
and/or cry when they offer you a 16-meg Service Pack which upgrades
your version of Notepad to a fatter binary and somehow induces bad
sectors on your hard disk).

The ^TO_ (or ^TO) recipe Philip posted should catch this just fine
anyhow (whereas the literal regular expression you were originally
using didn't contain anything to skip the quotes, or even the angle
brackets around the actual address, which other programs might put
there, too).
