Hi,

I am a new linux user, I had installed it at home a week ago. I had been
using procmail
for a while through a hosting service. So I installed my linux server in
order to test new procmail recipes,
without the need of logging to a remote host. I have a few questions
regarding procmail, and sendmail. Please ignore the questions if you feel
they don´t apply
to this list. Anyway, I hope you can help me out. I installed Red Hat 5.1,
with all
the options, and configured a local network with three computers:

1. 192.168.0.1 linux.daniel.com Linux
2. 192.168.0.2 Windows 95
3. 192.168.0.2 Windows 95

I have created users daniel, and matias

Question 1:

I am running procmail. First I modified the .forward file, within the
/home/matias directory, as recomended in man(1) so it calls procmail, and I
included
a .procmailrc recipe, but when I run it, mailing to matias I get the message:

...address matias is unsafe for mailing to programs...Is these a sendmail
configuration problem ?

Sendmail reacts poorly when a .forward file is found within a
directory who's permissions allow it to be read by anyone but the
owner. Do an ls -al /home/matias and see what you get.

Or a Linux rights issue ?
How can I give matias, or address matias rightws for mailing to programs ?

The next questions are not procmail specific, but just in case you know the
answers:

Question 2:
If I mail to daniel, or matias everything is O.K., but it doesn´t work
if I mail to daniel(_at_)linux(_dot_)daniel(_dot_)com, or
daniel(_at_)192(_dot_)168(_dot_)0(_dot_)1(_dot_) It looks that
sendmail is not aware of the IP address, and domain name. Do I need to
write these information(ip address, and domain name) somewhere within
the sendmail.cf file ?

Question 3:
If I use an email client, from one of the windows 95 machines, which I
configure with SMTP
192.168.0.1, the following conversation goes on, which looks O.K., but
there´s a long delay on
the line MAIL FROM daniel(_at_)adinet(_dot_)com, about 60 seconds, it looks
like if I
needed to add the names
of who can use SMTP, somewhere. If I use sender <daniel>, instead of
<daniel(_at_)adinet(_dot_)com>, it works
fine.

Question 4:
If I want lo limit the email of a user, provide a quota for a user, let´s
say 1 Mbyte per user,
how do I do it ?
