FW: help!

1999-06-07 09:43:21
I got lots of suggestions on things to try, but after tweaking my .forward
file to bits and pieces with no success, I finally changed the permissions
of my home directory to 755 (it was set to 775); now the darn thing works.

Thanks for the help guys! Now I can really get to work on things.

Thanks again!

Subject:      help!

Hello!

I'm trying to get procmail version 3.13.1 installed and working, but I'm
having difficulty. My platform is DEC UNIX version 4.0D, and I'm not
certain
which version of sendmail is installed.

I've got the distribution installed and made, and the binaries are in
/usr/bin. My .procmailrc permissions are 644 and here are the contents:
VERBOSE=ON
PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/u04/home/admin/sspaldin
MAILDIR=/u04/home/admin/sspaldin/mail
PMDIR=/u04/home/admin/sspaldin
LOGFILE=/u04/home/admin/sspaldin/mail/log

:0:
* ^Subject:.*test
IN.testing

:0:
* ^From.*sspaldin
IN.sspaldin

My .forward file permissions are 644 and here are the contents of it:
"|IFS=' '&&p=/usr/bin/procmail&&test -f $p -Yf- || exit 75 #sspaldin"

The procmail binary in /usr/bin has permissions of 4755.

I have the verbose setting on, but nothing is being logged to the log
file.
The mail directory permissions are 777 and the IN.testing, IN.sspaldin,
and
log files are all set to 777 permissions. Our primary mail service is
Microsoft exchange, and I send email messages to my account on my alpha
server using the following address:
sspaldin(_at_)mem1(_dot_)mem-ins(_dot_)com   where mem1
is the hostname of my alpha server. My primary mailbox is
/var/spool/mail/sspaldin and the messages are not being sent to it.

In the dec unix mail log file, the entry that shows up for the message
that
I sent is:
Jun  4 10:17:07 mem1 sendmail[4899]: command "EHLO" from mem-ins.com
(204.152.110.247) unrecognised
Jun  4 10:17:07 mem1 sendmail[28560]: AA28560:
message-id=<353D78CC88EFD21184CE00A0C9C72FB804D9DB(_at_)mail(_dot_)mem-ins(_dot_)com>
Jun  4 10:17:07 mem1 sendmail[28560]: AA28560:
from=<SSpaldin(_at_)mem-ins(_dot_)com>,
size=626, class=0, received from mem-ins.com (204.152.110.247)
Jun  4 10:17:07 mem1 sendmail[12648]: AA28560: to="|IFS='
'&&p=/usr/bin/procmail&&test -f $p -Yf- || exit 75 #sspaldin",
delay=00:00:00, stat=Sent

Can anyone tell me why incoming email messages are not going to the
IN.testing or IN.sspaldin files in my mail directory? All that I'm trying
to
do right now is get procmail set up so that I can sort incoming mail to
the
alpha server. After I get that far, I plan on doing some fancier stuff,
but
for now I'd appreciate any help that I can get.

Thank you very much.
