folder locking - name of lock file

I'm looking for a clarification on the naming of the lock files used by
procmail as documentation I've read so far suggests that procmail will
determine the lock file name based upon the filename into which the
message is to be placed. 

It appears that the default for LOCKEXT is ".lock", but is the lock file
simply the filename with LOCKEXT appended, ie in the following example
would the recipe lead procmail to use a lock file of
lists/email/procmail.lock ?

:0:
* SUBADDR ?? procmail
lists/email/procmail
