testing rc file

I know there is a way to do this, I just can't remember the syntax.

I need to test an RC file which has a recipe (which works fine as shell commands
but fails when in procmail, and leaves no clear msg why in the log)

So assume I have the headers and body of the message in a text file called
'message.txt'... how do I test the rc file (test.rc)?

it's something like

        procmail -m /path/to/test.rc < message.txt

but I'm missing a part somewhere.
