Re: corrupt inboxes

I have seen very similar stuff caused by improper file locking in
the
mail spool, usually when the mail spool is NFS mounted. You
probably
have more problems with busier or larger mailboxes.

there's no NFS. the drives are on a hardware RAID (by 3ware) and
the fs is reiserfs. im upgrading to the latest kernel+3ware
drivers+reiserfs, hopefully that will fix thigns instead of breaking
them.

If you're using procmail as a replacement for mail.local, you should
make sure that your file locking WORKS, and that the method being
used
by procmail is the same as the method being used by your IMAP and
POP3
clients.

so are you implying this happens when two programs are messing with
the mailbox file at the same time?
shouldnt i maybe be looking at the pop _daemon_ not client? i didnt
think the client handled such stuff.

thanks,
fred
