Can anyone point me to a quick how-to on setup of maildirs with procmail?

I discuss this in my Procmail Quick Start, which is here

I've reviewed the man pages, FAQs and list archives, but can't find the
magic goo I need to put into my /etc/procmailrc. Is it as simple as
having a line something like:
      DEFAULT=/var/spool/maildirs/$LOGNAME/
or should I bunt, and put users' mail in their own directories with:
      DEFAULT=$HOME/Maildir/

I'm don't know how to do this for multiple users because I only
have experience for my single-user account on a multi-user
qmail/courier system. What I do in my personal qmail-invoked
procmailrc is set

 MAILDIR=$HOME/Maildir
 DEFAULT=$MAILDIR/.user/

and actually I recently changed DEFAULT to this

 DEFAULT=$MAILDIR/.user.catchall/

because I wanted my "catcall" mailbox to be named catchall
instead of "inbox" which is what courier imap was presenting it
as with the previous setting.

and then just making damn sure each of those exists before mail gets
sent to it?

Will procmail know to create maildir forlders that don't already exist?
What about the directories inside 'em?

If you're using 3.15.1 or higher, procmail will create a mailbox
if it doesn't already exist. I'm not sure about earlier versions
of procmail but I'd like to find out so I can add that info to my
Quick Start.

Yes, I'm looking for shortcuts rather than going from scratch with Qmail
and learning a new MTA from the ground up.

Rather than doing this for the whole system, I suggest you start
out experimenting with a single user account and the .qmail,
.qmail-default, .qmail-whatever files for that account.

Good luck,
I'd appreciate feedback on my Procmail Quick Start,
Thanks,
Nancy
