but as I understand, it has to be installed once for EVERY user,
right? So if I have a thousand users, I would have to copy this a
thousand times, just to achive the same thing a thousand times. There
must be some easier way...
If you go the procmail route, then you might want to consider rolling out all
users with a symlink to a standard .procmailrc which immediately includes
another standard include file. This way you can standardise scripts very
easily and yet over-ride for specific users.
Also consider the possibility of dropping priveleges in the /etc/procmail.rc
and running your script in their, but from the problem it sounds as though
every user needs their own msgid.cache file?
