i am trying to run procmail being called by postfix. I added
mailbox_command = /usr/local/bin/procmail.orig -m
/etc/procmail/procmailrc.internal
to my main.cf file and then restarted postfix.
works great for users with 7 char usernames or less, for 8 char or more the
messages bounce with the following error message:

with verbose procmail logging:
From stevem(_at_)emji(_dot_)net Wed Oct 30 12:59:53 2002
Subject: test
Folder: **Bounced**
procmail version:
procmail v3.23pre 2001/09/13
Locking strategies: dotlocking, fcntl(), lockf(), flock()
Default rcfile: $HOME/.procmailrc
Your system mailbox: /var/spool/mail/root
postfix version:
mail_version = 1.1.11-20020613
now everything DOES work if I call procmail with a .forward file, which I
dont want to do as i am going to have 3000 users using this when i I get it
working.
here are the procmail permissions:
-rwsrwsrwx 1 root root 67544 Oct 18 13:00
/usr/local/bin/procmail
I am running the beta of procmail because of some issues with spamassassin
where messages would just lose the initial F in From causing the message to
be appended to the last message in the queue rather than it showing up as
its own message.
I am runnin SpamAssassin version 2.42 with spamc/spamd
this same thing happens on multiple machines (similarly configured software
wise) and with procmail version 3.21 I did not try versions any farther
back...
any suggestions?
