Extracting an attachment and working with it

Could someone point me to a decent reading spot for info on using
procmail + metamail (or anything else that will do the trick) to
extract and save bianry attachments from a mime encoded message.

I want the ability to automatically rename and move image files from
emails sent to a specific address.
