Replacing procmail with Mail::Audit?

I currently call perlscripts from Procmail and I invoke Spamassassin 
within those perlscripts however I notice
that the developers of SA no longer trust Mail::Audit, at least 
according to some of the comments in spamassassin
so what exactly are the concerns about using Mail::Audit instead of 
procmail to filter email?
