I just changed split.inc, and now it works a lot better:

--> inc --> split.inc
It has some inline documentation and a test-mode.
About that test-mode:
I remember that there once was a thread about how
to differentiate between a procmail started from a
shell (or command line) and one started by an MTA.
Maybe COMSAT?
