Hmmm, I was thinking, with -ds it REMOVE all [LF], [TAB]
and [CR] and the it compress all [SPACE] to one.
That's what is _should_ do, but 'tr' appears not to be very
portable across systems.
Do you really want to delete tabs? Wouldn't it be better to map
a tab into a space? Same goes for \r and \n if they happened
to appear within an ISO encoded Subject line?

See above. Personally, I'd opt for dropping the -d.
