I've just set up a new box and got my mail working.
My .procmailrc (part of it) looks like this:
PATH = /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:.
I never have a PATH setting in a .procmailrc. Do you need it?
But that shouldn't break it right?
MAILDIR = /newStore/mail/ # Youd better make sure it exists
$MAILDIR shouldn't end in a slash.
Are you sure that the directory "/newStore/mail" exists, or did you mean
"$HOME/newStore/mail"?
Apparently, according to some sources, the trailing slash indicates maildir
format. However that turns out to be rubbish, right?
I thought that was what I wanted. In addition, the previous setup I had worked
with the trailing slash.
However, now I have changed that and the original, faulty, behavious is the
same.
DEFAULT = $MAILDIR/Inbox
LOGFILE = $MAILDIR/logFile
Why the $LOGFILE inside $MAILDIR? Maybe something like "newStore/pmlog"
is better.
OK (-: but that shouldn't break it either.
LOCKFILE = $HOME/.lockmail
Why the rc-wide locking?
hmmm, can't remember, probably isn't necessary.
Yet the mail gets delivered to $HOME/<mailbox> instead of
/newStore/mail/<mailbox>
Did you check the logfile? For debugging, put
VERBOSE = ON
LOGABSTRACT = ALL
OK, I'll try that:
OK, I sent a test email that should end up in the Inbox in /newStore/mail.
This is what gets written to the log:

It seems that procmai is choosing the './' option instead of MAILDIR.
Does this give any further clues?
Thanks again for your help (-:
Kind regards.
Luke.
in the start of your $HOME/.procmailrc.
