Why remove it?
Why not just parse past it?
It would seem that the issue is in the software that goes looking for
the handoff header, and for whatever reason, considers 127.0.0.1 to
be an external IP address; I'd focus your search on trying to
dissuade your parser of that notion instead of trying to remove the
header.

Unfortunately I'm not the author of the script. I've forwarded the information
about this to him but I was just wondering if it wouldn't be easier to have
formail remove this portion of the header.
