RE : Re: When did we lose control?

2004-10-19 10:32:22

I evidently was not at the original meeting somebody talk about yesterday.
We are only a small company with 3500 users and 1000 domain to protect.

I would like for SPF and Caller-ID to work together. Better yet to also
have Yahoo Domain keys on board... I don't care the technology. I don't
care who own it. I don't care who use my SPF records. I care about having
solution(s) in place to validate the mail I am receiving and solution(s)
allowing others to check the mail I am sending.

I don't have the technical background in mail system to add to the technical
side of the discussions I have been following for the last 6 months but I am
sick and tired of the witchhunt and wining. Nothing have been appening here
for the last month. Stop complaining about MS and do something.

Stop complaining about who/what/why! Start working on the solutions. 2
implementations of SPF? I don't care. Market will decided soon. We need
solutions NOW!

And please, nobody answer with « me too I am sick of it» type of message...
This is suppose to be a technical discussion. Everybody get back to it
please. Just agree to disagree. We are not in kindergaryen anymore.

The folks who asked me, back in January, to work with Microsoft to
produce a single standard, would have to ask me to stop.

Instead they have been emailing me directly saying "please keep
going". They won't say it here, because we seem to have turned this
mailing list into a cross between a kangaroo court and a witchhunt,
but it's what I'm hearing.

Can you mention who still wants this, so we can talk to them directly or
publicly? It's kind of hard to address desires people might express to you
in private email. If they have some reasoning for their desire to integrate
Microsoft's efforts into SPF, I'd like to see them, and a number of the rest
of us would.

It's hard for us to buy into the reasoning of people who won't speak with
us, and it leaves me at least suspicious of their genuine motivations.

I think it is important to keep the domain owners in mind
--- those millions of folks who will have to actually do the dirty
work of publishing the records. Keeping things as simple as possible
for them is, in my view, what will make all this a success --- not
fighting over details that they will ultimately find irrelevant.

Well, yes, that's pretty important. That's also indirectly in conflict with
the approach of Microsoft's Senderkeys system, where they have to send money
to a central key repository and use SMTP servers with XML parsing built it.
