Due to the considerable, apparent misunderstanding about the technologies we
are dealing with, I'd like to provide some basic information about how
e-mail works for idiots like myself.
Could some kind person point me at the documentation (hopefully only one
document) which describes all the possible mail headers, who sets them, who
can modify them, what they mean, and who reads them. I'd like to put a page
of this information of the spf-help.net website as a means of explaining
where spf "fits in" and what all the other protocols are doing with these
headers.
When I've got that page done - I'd like to do an "Idiots guide to SMTP".
I'm the idiot and I'll need a guide or two ;-)
