I'm guessing the council will decide on some preferred date for general
elections for the next council terms.
I'm also guessing that this decision and the specific dates (and the
date range they fall into) will be generally just fine with everyone and
not in any sense controversial.
So, if the decision is something simple like:
"general council elections occur each year in January,
new one-year terms begin February 1, any mid-term vacancies
filled by council appointment if no council member objection,
or by special election otherwise",
or some other simple thing where no one would likely care to campaign
for one set of dates over another, then I have a simple request:
Could we have a ballot item in (January/whenever) for everyone to give
up/down approval of that election timing decision, along with
retroactive approval for the terms and election timings so
far--including this new election?
That way everything looks as representative as it really is, which is
probably important for PR.
(I'm guessing this will be relatively easy to implement from a technical
and practical sense, since there's going to be an election anyway.)
