Not valid as you say. Using my validator,
www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html, I get:
Results - PermError SPF Permanent Error: Invalid IP4 address:
ip4:170.224.107.71a:mailer.communityconnect.com
As you say, when there are multiple strings, they are just concatenated. No
space is added.
I can see a LAX mode feature where in case of a PERMERROR, it might
try concatenating substrings *with* a space as one of the heuristics
to guess what was meant (after sending a DSN with the diagnostic, of
course).
