I try to copy whole tree and replace some tags. I started from
copying everything blindly.

I used this:

<xsl:template match="node()|@*">
      <xsl:copy>
              <xsl:apply-templates/>
      </xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>

And it doesn't work

So close. Instead of <xsl:apply-templates/>,
which is the same as <xsl:apply-templates select="node()"/>
and is the same as <xsl:apply-templates select="child::node()"/>,
you need to use <xsl:apply-templates select="node()|@*"/>.

This is in the XSLT spec under Copying (xsl:copy)
