it is a syntax error (nd a FAQ). The strange thing is why so many
people expect it to work. There are relatively few languages
where you can use a string containaing a bit of language syntax and
expect to use that as part of a language expression.
in C you can't have a string x="1 + 2" and then go x + 5 and hope it
evaluates to 8.

you want .../*[name()=$t_path]/...
