Thanks David... but i still confused...if i do <xsl:apply-templates
select="@* | * | text()"> or <xsl:apply-templates select="@* | * | node()">,
the output doesnot contain any of the attributes. Please help in getting the
required output.

the * only selects elements, you want * | text() or node().
then you will pick up text nodes as well.
to sort an xml document based on the
node names & also, the attribute names...
Note you are sorting teh attribute nodes based on their name but this
may or may not have any effect on the way the document is output.
the system may output attributes in any order.
