Re: xalan extention - evaluate()

evaluate() allows you to execute an XPath string that is the result of an 
expression, as opposed to one hard-coded at the time you wrote the 
stylesheet.

There's a very simple example in 
xml-xalan\test\tests\extensions\library\libraryEvaluate01.xsl
