methods of converting an xml string to xml nodes

Hi,

Sorry that I ask this question again. It has been a while since I got this 
problem and it seems that no solution really works for me.
I'm using xalan processor. And what I need is to convert an xml string to 
xml nodes so it can be read from stylesheet.
I will be really appreciated if you can provide any suggestion.
