The problem is not with the contains function but with your use of the variable.
You use
<xsl:variable name="watchFor" select="xsl,list"/>
you should use
<xsl:variable name="watchFor">xsl,list<xsl:variable/>

Subject: Re: [xsl] [contains] wierd error with contains function
There is no reason, that contains() does not work with commas. Such an
error never occured to me while really often using Xalan and Xerces.

I am using contains to check whether a particular text appears in the xml

This is the funtion.
<xsl:if test="(contains(.,$watchFor))">
<img src="../images/TSPGIF.gif"/>
</xsl:if>
This works without any problem except when $watchFor contains commas.
Thus
<xsl:if test="(contains(.,'xsllist'))">
<img src="../images/TSPGIF.gif"/>
</xsl:if>
would work
but
<xsl:if test="(contains(.,'xsl,list'))">
<img src="../images/TSPGIF.gif"/>
</xsl:if>
wont work. Is this just me or is there something that i am missing.
I am using xalan and xerces
Thanks.
