Perhaps once you get rid of that, then other problems could be
examined. If anyone tries to solve your problem with the declaration you
have now, it may have to change. I'm not sure, because I haven't looked at
the rest of your problem, but the fact that you have an error in your
declaration raised a red flag right away.
